To allow for other guests and within the limitations of our accommodation we envisage a maximum of 6 people. Extra nights are available both before and after the break at a reduced rate of €50 per double room.

In the days before Christmas this part of the Loire has many concerts, markets etc. All the towns and villages are decorated and, in essence, there is as much to do as you want to do. There will be little time during a three day break and there is certainly no compulsion to do anything but we will put together a suggested programme as soon as detailed information becomes available.This will be especially useful if you can arrive a day or two earlier.

Apéritifs accompanied by an award winning Sparkling Saumur Brut from La Domaine de la Paleine
6 Oysters accompanied by "La Vent de Nord" a dry, lemony Saumur Blanc 2007 from LaDomaine du Guyons (Oysters are a French tradition at Xmas but we have other options available)
Pan fried Boudin Noir on a bed of apple accompanied by an organic Saumur Rouge 2008 from La Domaine de Vieux Tuffeau
Roast Quail in a Balsamic and Honey Sauce accompanied by "Le Moulin de Quints 2005", a stunning, concentrated Saumur Rouge from old vines and with a restricted yield from La Domaine de la Paleine.

FOR TWO PEOPLE SHARING A DOUBLE EN-SUITE ROOM
The price is for a 'Three-Night'stay, from Christmas Eve 24th December, to the morning of the 27th December, and includes apéritifs on arrival, a special Christmas Lunch, three breakfasts consisting of two French Petit Dejeuners plus a Full English with Bucks Fizz on Boxing Day morning. (Extra nights can be booked at €50 per night, per couple if desired). Various options are also available to our guests:- On the day of arrival we can reserve a table in the village restaurant where there are choices from an à La Carte Menu, Fixed Menus at €14 and €18, alternatively you can use the self-catering facilities in the gîtes, or you can eat here, (four courses)- €25. A light lunch is available on Boxing Day - €14 (even a BBQ if the weather behaves itself). If time permits, we are happy to do a free guided tour of one of the seventy wineries in and around Le Puy Notre Dame where you will have the opportunity to buy.
Now that we have finally finished our renovations we are able to do something which we have wanted to do for a long time, which is to have a Christmas house party here at Le Clos des Guyons! We thought it would be great to model it on the country house parties so popular in Edwardian times including dressing for Christmas dinner and everyone eating together around our huge,three metre long dining table, with apéritifs and after-dinner drinks being taken in the reception room in front of the huge stone open fire place. We also envisage this room being used throughout your stay as a library or just a place to get together and share a coffee or glass or two. Accommodation is in our two self-contained gites thus will come complete with en-suite bedrooms, lounge and kitchen. Both are heated and have games, books and Satellite TV. Our bikes are available free of charge.
